Growing Burgaw Together:
TDA W orkshop Recap
The Burgaw Tourism Development Authority
recently came together for a special workshop
centered around the theme GROW Burgaw —
Grounded in Our Purpose, Recognizing What ’s
Working, Opportunities to Grow, and Working Better
Together.
During the workshop, members reviewed the TDA ’s
roles and responsibilities, discussed occupancy tax
collections and the use of tourism funding, and
reflected on the Authority ’s purpose in promoting
travel and tourism in Burgaw.
Members also took time to recognize what is
currently working well, identify opportunities for
continued growth, and discuss what they want the
TDA to be moving forward. The workshop
encouraged collaboration, fresh ideas, and a shared
commitment to making thoughtful investments that
strengthen Burgaw as a place to visit, experience,
and enjoy.
The TDA excited to build on this momentum and
continue working together to GROW Burgaw!

Burgaw Town Clerk Kristin Wells recently attended the 2026 North Carolina Association of Municipal
Clerks (NCAMC) Annual Summer Conference, held August 19–22 at the Wilmington Convention
Center. The conference brought municipal clerks from across North Carolina together for professional
development, networking and educational opportunities designed to strengthen the municipal clerk
profession.
Hosted in Wilmington with the assistance of Wilmington City Clerk Penny Spicer -Sidbury, this year ’s
conference was especially exciting to have held right here in southeastern North Carolina. Sessions
covered a variety of topics focused on leadership, professional growth and the important role
municipal clerks serve within local government.
The conference also featured several notable guest
speakers, including North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and
Andy Masters, award-winning author and international speaker.
Attending the annual conference provides valuable opportunities for
continued education, professional development and collaboration with
municipal clerks from across the state. Ms. Wells looks forward to applying
the knowledge, resources and ideas gained through the conference to her
continued service to the Town of Burgaw and its citizens.
