NEWSLETTER
As we gather this Memorial Day, we pause not simply for a long weekend or the
unofficial start of summer, but to honor the brave men and women who made the
ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
Their courage secured the freedoms we enjoy each day — the freedom to gather with
family, celebrate our communities, and pursue the American dream. Memorial Day is a
solemn reminder that liberty is never free, and that generations of heroes answered
the call to protect it.
In our town, we are proud to remember those who served with honor and gave
everything for something greater than themselves. We also extend our deepest
gratitude to the military families who carry both the pride and the pain of that sacrifice.
Today, I encourage everyone to take a moment of reflection. Attend a local ceremony,
place a flag, share a story, or simply pause in gratitude for those who never came
home.
May we continue to live in a way that honors their legacy — with unity, compassion,
service, and love for community and country.
On behalf of our town, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
God bless our fallen heroes.

What Progress Means to Me
Mayor Dawson’s Latest Message from the Community Connection Blog on
the Town Website
Our Town | Page 3
As mayor, I often think about what the word “progress” truly means
to me and for our town, especially when others may see it
differently.
Progress is not about becoming the biggest town. It is not about
losing the charm and character that make our community special. To
me, progress is about continuing to make our small town better
while holding on to the values that make people proud to call it
home.
Progress means creating a community that is friendly, safe,
welcoming, and vibrant for everyone — from longtime residents to
young families and visitors discovering our town for the first time.
It means investing in our parks, sidewalks, and public spaces so
families have places to gather, children have places to play, and
neighbors can connect with one another. A strong community is
built in those everyday moments.
Progress also means supporting community events that bring people
together. Festivals, farmers markets, concerts, parades, and local
celebrations create memories and strengthen the spirit of our town.
These events remind us that small towns thrive when people feel
connected.
Most importantly, progress means supporting our small businesses.
Our local businesses are the heartbeat of our community. When our
shops, restaurants, boutiques, and entrepreneurs thrive, our entire
town thrives. Supporting local businesses creates jobs, strengthens
our economy, and preserves the unique identity of our downtown
and neighborhoods.
Progress is about thoughtful growth — growth that respects our
history while preparing for the future. It is about improving quality
of life while maintaining the small -town hospitality and sense of
community that people love.
Every sidewalk improved, every park enhanced, every business
opened, and every community event hosted is another step
forward.
That is what progress means to me.
And together, I believe we are building a stronger future for our
town while keeping the heart of our community alive.
