NOTI CE OF SPECI AL MEETI NG
The Burgaw Town Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 9:00 AM for the
purpose of conducting a Budget Work Session in preparation of the FY 2026 -2027 budget. Council will
resume said meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 9:00 AM, if necessary. This meeting will be held at the
Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington Street, Burgaw. All interested parties are invited to attend.
Burgaw 101 is a new initiative designed to give residents a
clearer understanding of how their local government
works. One of the Town Council ’s goals is to strive for
transparency and open communication with everyone
who lives, works, and plays in our community, and this
series is one way we’re enhancing those efforts.
Through Burgaw 101 , we ’ll highlight day -to-day
departmental operations, explain the services provided to
our community, and offer helpful insights into how the
Town functions behind the scenes.
• Educating residents to help them better understand
local government.
• Informing our community by highlighting services,
programs, and day-to-day departmental operations.
• Connecting with our residents and business owners
by building stronger relationships between the
Town and those we serve.
We look forward to sharing information that helps you
better understand how your town operates and we invite
you to follow along, learn more, and stay connected.
Articles will be published periodically on the Town ’s
website and shared on our Facebook page. Our first article
has already been published—check it out on page 3.
In celebration of Administrative Professionals Day on
Wednesday, April 22, we proudly recognized and thanked
the dedicated administrative staff across our town
departments—including administration, finance,
planning, police, fire, parks/recreation, and public
services. We appreciate their hard work, attention to
detail, and unwavering commitment to serving our
community.
“They are the steady foundation that keeps it all
together,” said Mayor Olivia Dawson, “Thank you for your
professionalism, your commitment, and the care you
bring to your work every single day. We are truly grateful
for each of you and all that you do to keep things moving
forward.”

The Town of Burgaw is proud to provide essential municipal services that support a high quality of life for our residents
and businesses. Because these services are tied to the Town ’s jurisdiction, it ’s important to understand how service
areas are determined.
Burgaw’s municipal services—such as water —are primarily available within the Town ’s incorporated city limits. Some
properties outside the Town limits may also receive services if they are connected to the Town’s systems.
If you live outside the Town limits and are not connected to Burgaw ’s utilities, your services are typically provided
through Pender County or private systems.
Understanding these distinctions helps ensure you receive the correct services and allows the Town of Burgaw and
Pender County to work together effectively to serve the entire community.
Municipal Services & Town Limits
Frequently Asked Questions
What determines whether I receive Town of Burgaw services?
Municipal services are based on location. If your property is within the Town of Burgaw’s city limits, you are
eligible for Town-provided services. If you are outside the limits, services are generally provided by Pender
County or through private systems.
Who provides water service in Burgaw?
The Town of Burgaw provides water service to customers who are connected to the Town’s municipal water
system. This includes most properties within the city limits and some properties outside the limits that have
established connections.
What if I live outside the Town limits?
If your property is located outside Burgaw’s city limits and is not connected to the Town’s water system, you are
considered a Pender County resident. In these cases, water is typically supplied by a private well, and
wastewater is managed through a septic system.
Can properties outside Town limits receive Burgaw water service?
In some cases, yes. Properties outside the Town limits may receive water service if they are connected to the
Town’s system. Availability and eligibility depend on infrastructure access and Town policies.
Who do I contact about my services?
If you are inside Burgaw’s city limits or connected to Town utilities, contact the Town of Burgaw. If you are
outside the Town limits and not connected to Town services, contact Pender County for assistance or guidance.
