As we close out the Christmas Holiday season and
welcome the New Year, I want to take a moment to thank
each of you for making our community such a special place
to call home. The holidays remind us of the importance of
togetherness, generosity, and gratitude—and those values
are reflected every day in the people who live, work, and
serve here.
Over the past few years, we have accomplished so much
together. Through collaboration, dedication, and a shared
vision for our future, we have continued to strengthen our
town, support local businesses, invest in our community,
and preserve the small -town character that makes us
proud. None of this progress would be possible without
the commitment of our residents, town staff, volunteers,
and community partners.
As we look ahead to the coming year, I am filled with
optimism and excitement. The New Year brings fresh
opportunities, new ideas, and the chance to build on the
strong foundation we ’ve already laid. I am confident that,
together, we will continue to move our town forward and
accomplish even greater things in the year ahead. 2026
will be a particularly meaningful year as we celebrate the
America 250—marking 250 years of our nation’s history.
Thank you for your continued support, pride, and
commitment to Burgaw. Wishing you a happy, healthy,
and prosperous New Year!

BLUEBERRY
New Year’s Eve
DROP 2025
Thinking of putting up a shed, digging a new sprinkler
system or setting up a fence around the yard? Before you
dig, call NC811! Today, more and more of the utility
companies that supply your home or business with power,
heat, water, telephone, sewer, gas, and cable television
service are delivering those services underground.
Fortunately, you can find out where public utility -owned
lines are buried on your property by contacting 811 either
by phone or online. NC811 will notify our member utility
companies of your excavation needs and those utilities
will have professional locators mark their buried lines, free
of charge.
Before you dig, call NC 811 first!

Reflecting on a Year of Service and Continuing to Serve our Community
As we step into the new year, we are excited and energized by what lies ahead for our department and the community we
proudly serve. This month marks an important time of growth, as we welcome multiple new members to our team. We are
also proud to announce the addition of captains assigned to our trucks, along with the staffing of a fourth firefighter on ea ch
shift—an important step forward in strengthening our response capabilities and service to the community.
Looking back on the past year, we are incredibly proud of what was accomplished together. In total, our department
responded to 876 calls for service , completed 117 community events , and had the opportunity to interact face -to-face with
28,507 community members through education, outreach, and engagement. These numbers reflect not only the dedication of
our personnel, but the strong partnerships we share with our residents, schools, businesses, and local organizations.
As we move into the new year, we want to express our continued appreciation for the unwavering support of our community.
Your trust, encouragement, and involvement allow us to grow, adapt, and serve at the highest level. We look forward to
building on this momentum, welcoming new faces, and continuing to work together to make the
coming year even stronger and safer for all.
Here’s to a new year filled with progress, teamwork, and community pride.
Stay safe!
