Our T own
Published weekly by the Town of Burgaw | November 10-14, 2025
You are invited to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at the annual
Burgaw Christmas Parade, taking place on Saturday, December 13, at 5:30 p.m.,
always the second Saturday in December, in historic downtown Burgaw. This
beloved community tradition lights up the streets with holiday cheer, festive
floats, and hometown spirit.
Presented by the Burgaw Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Burgaw,
the Christmas Parade features local schools, civic groups, churches, first
responders, marching bands, dance troupes, and, of course, a special
appearance by Santa Claus himself!
“The Burgaw Christmas Parade is one of our favorite traditions, bringing
families, neighbors, and visitors together to celebrate the joy of the season, ”
said Mayor Dawson. “It’s a wonderful showcase of our town ’s hospitality and
holiday spirit that makes Burgaw so special.”
Parade spectators are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy holiday shopping,
festive holiday spirit, and dining at Burgaw ’s charming local businesses
throughout town and around the Courthouse Square. Visitors can also explore
the town’s seasonal decorations and take photos at the community Christmas
tree.

UPCOMING
A Message from Mayor Dawson
Hello, friends and neighbors,
I am excited to introduce Community
Connection, now available on the town’s
website, where I’ll share updates, reflections,
and insights on the issues and opportunities
shaping our town. My goal is to keep you
informed and engaged as we work together
to continue building a vibrant, connected,
and thriving community.
Through these updates, I’ll highlight ongoing
projects, upcoming events, and important
decisions before the town. I also hope to
share the stories that make Burgaw such a
special place —stories of progress,
collaboration, and hometown pride.
I encourage you to stay involved, share your
ideas, and take part in the conversations that
guide our future. Together, we can ensure
Burgaw remains a welcoming place to live,
work, and visit.
Thank you for being an active part of our
community. I look forward to connecting with
you online in Community Connection!
Warm regards,
Mayor Dawson

The Town of Burgaw is pleased to share the exciting news that a new Pet Microchip
Scanning Station is now up and running at the Burgaw Police Department, located at
109 N. Walker Street. This important addition enhances our community ’s ability to
quickly reunite lost pets with their families —without waiting for a veterinarian or
shelter to open.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Paws 4 Purpose and The Lawrence Herd for
their dedication and partnership in bringing this project to life. This station marks the
first of many planned for western Pender County, building on existing efforts
including the Surf City location. Paws 4 Purpose is also collaborating with Pender
County Animal Control Services to add several more stations across the county.
We are grateful for the generosity that made this possible. Through donations, $325 was contributed to sponsor
Burgaw’s station, demonstrating the power of community support and the commitment of local animal advocates —
especially our small but passionate senior rescues working hard to make a difference.
The Town of Burgaw encourages all pet owners to have their animals microchipped and to take full advantage of this
new resource. Together, we can help ensure lost pets find their way home quickly and safely.
