NEWSLETTER
Our T own
Published weekly by the Town of Burgaw | April 7-11, 2025
The Town of Burgaw is delighted to announce the success of the inaugural Mayor ’s Gala,
held on March 29th as a fundraising effort for the Parks Foundation of Burgaw.
The Parks Foundation of Burgaw is a non -profit organization dedicated to enhancing the
Burgaw Community by directly investing in the local park systems' growth, maintenance,
and improvement. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, sponsors, and
supporters, the Gala raised an additional $15,000 to enhance and expand recreational
opportunities in Burgaw.
The event brought together residents, business leaders, donors, and town friends for an
evening of celebration, entertainment, and philanthropy. The funds raised will directly
support projects that improve our town ’s parks and recreational spaces, ensuring a
healthier, more vibrant future for Burgaw families and visitors alike.
“I’m incredibly proud of our community for showing up and supporting the gala and the foundation in this shared vision for
Burgaw,” said Mayor Dawson. “This event was more than just a fundraiser—it was a reflection of the spirit of Burgaw and our
commitment to coming together for a cause.”
The foundation cultivates a more vibrant future for Burgaw through meaningful
collaboration and community partnerships. As the Parks Foundation of Burgaw
continues to work toward its fundraising goal, the success of the Mayor ’s Gala marks
another major step forward.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the progress we ’ve made as a community to raise funds
for this exciting project that will benefit families and children for years to come, ” said
Sydney Lewis, Parks Foundation Chairperson. “The splash pad will provide a safe and
fun space for our youth and help make our town an even more vibrant place to live,
work, and play.”
Additional opportunities and events to support the Foundation ’s mission will be announced in the coming months; however,
donations toward the campaign are ongoing through the website.
The specific purpose of the Parks Foundation of Burgaw is to raise funds for the expansion and betterment of the Burgaw
community and to aid in the growth and maintenance of the local park systems within the corporate limits of Burgaw, NC.
For more information about the Parks Foundation of Burgaw or details of the splash pad project, visit burgawparks.com/

We made it to Friday!
Happy April! We hope you’ve been enjoying the recent stretch of beautiful weather. As we transition into the warmer
months, we’d like to take a moment to share some important updates and reminders from your local fire department.
Outdoor Burning Reminder
Although the seasonal burn ban has been lifted, we kindly remind everyone to exercise caution
and follow all safety guidelines when conducting outdoor burns. Please ensure that fires are
attended at all times, kept under control, and fully extinguished before leaving the area.
Conditions can still be unpredictable, and your vigilance helps us keep our community safe.
Hydrant Maintenance Underway
With spring upon us, our crews have begun annual fire hydrant maintenance throughout the
community. This essential work ensures that our hydrants remain in optimal working condition
for emergency response. We ask that you please be mindful of our personnel and equipment in
the area, and drive carefully when approaching work zones.
Ride Along Program Now Active
We’re thrilled to announce the official launch of our Ride Along Program! Several community members have already taken
part and joined our firefighters on shift. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the daily operations
of the fire department and experience firsthand the dedication and teamwork involved in emergency services. We
encourage anyone interested to sign up—we’d love to have you along for the ride.
Volunteer Junior Firefighter Program
Do you know a teen who’s interested in public service or emergency response? Our Volunteer Junior Firefighter Program is
open to individuals aged 16 and up. This initiative allows young adults to volunteer with the department, receive hands-on
training, and be part of a supportive and professional fire service environment. It's a great stepping stone for those
considering a future career in fire or emergency services.
Aiden C. Radke Junior Firefighter Camp – Registration Now Open!
We are excited to once again host the Aiden C. Radke Junior Firefighter Camp, and registration is officially open! This year,
we’re offering three separate camp sessions, giving families more flexibility in scheduling. The camp provides children with
a fun, educational introduction to fire safety, teamwork, and basic firefighting skills. Spots fill up quickly, so be sure to visit
the town’s official website for more information and to register your child.
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership in keeping our community safe. We look forward to a
productive and engaging spring season with all of you.
Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine,
Your Friends at the Burgaw Fire Department
