Happy Birthday, Burgaw! PUBLI C NOTI CE
The Pender County
Sheriff's Office is hosting a
Mastering Manhunts
training in Burgaw. The
training utilizes canines
and drones to locate
individuals. On Tuesday,
February 25 from 11:00 am
until approximately 10:00
pm, officers with canines
and drone operators will
train in techniques used in
urban areas. Please do
not be alarmed to see an
increased law
enforcement presence in
the downtown area of
Burgaw, during this
training. If you have any
questions or concerns,
please contact the
Pender County Sheriff's
Office.
I’d like to take a moment to reflect on some key
developments and share what’s ahead.
Established in 1879, our community has grown from
its humble beginnings into the charming and
welcoming town we all love today.
For 146 years, Burgaw has been a place where tradition and progress
come together, where neighbors support one another, and where we
continue to build on the foundations laid by those who came before us.
Last week, we participated in the State of the County,
where I had the opportunity to speak about the State
of our Community. It ’s truly inspiring to see the
collaborative efforts that continue to shape Burgaw.
This year is extra special as we celebrate Pender
County’s 150th anniversary . This milestone is a
wonderful reminder of our rich history and the
strength of our community spirit. The commemorations highlight our
county’s past while envisioning a bright future.
As we move into budget season, our focus is on ensuring that we remain
fiscally responsible while investing in infrastructure, public services, and
community projects that enhance the quality of life for all residents. We
will be working closely with town officials and
departments to plan effectively, and I encourage
you to stay engaged as we prioritize projects that
reflect the needs and desires of our citizens.
Among the exciting projects we are looking
forward to in the coming months are
improvements to our parks, trails, roads,
sidewalks, and downtown area.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in making Burgaw a
great place to live, work, and visit.
Mayor Dawson

Happy Friday, Everyone!
We hope everyone had an uneventful week after our little cold spell.
Last weekend, we took a moment to celebrate our own members at
our Annual Fire Department Banquet. We are very grateful for all our
members do year long and being able to take a moment to show them
they are appreciated is the least we could do.
This year our awards were presented as the following:
• The John Fraiser Chief’s Award: Tommy Lindsey
• Officer of the Year: Lieutenant Johnathon Paluck
• Firefighter of the Year: Lieutenant Michael “Turbo” Carlisle
• Rookie Firefighter of the Year: Kerry Datz.
We are extremely proud of these folks and their achievements that led
them to be highlighted this year.
Until next week,
Your Burgaw Fire Department Family
