Coffee &
Conversation
Stop by Brown Dog Coffee on September 17th
between 10 AM and 12 PM for a chat with the
Burgaw Police Chief Jim Hock and Fire Chief
Johnathan Prevatte. This is a great opportunity to
ask questions about operations of our public
safety departments, general safety questions, or
bring your concerns to our attention. If you are
not able to drop in on this date, we plan to hold
“Chat with the Chiefs ” several times throughout
the year.
Local business owners and
town leaders came together
on September 5th to discuss
upcoming events in town
and efficient ways to keep
everyone informed. It was a
great time of conversation
and good coffee!

Happy Friday and Hello September!
As we enter into the next couple of months the temperatures will start to cool off. Though we are all ready to welcome
these cooler temperatures with wide open arms, we want to remind everyone to practice fire
safety.
Before firing up those heating systems and chimneys, make sure you take the time to inspect
and clean the systems. Remember when utilizing your fireplaces, to keep anything that can burn
at least 3 feet away.
Fire Marshal Kratovel would like to remind everyone if they haven ’t done so to conduct a
monthly check on their smoke alarms!
If you or someone you know does not have working smoke alarms, please reach out to Fire
Marshal Kratovel, who will aid in obtaining working smoke alarms.
Smoke alarms save lives, giving occupants more time to get out in the event of a fire.
Continue to stay fire safe!
Until next week,
