Our T own
Dear Residents,
As Mayor of our beloved small town, I want to share some
updates and thoughts on the growth and proposed housing
developments in our area.
We are committed to maintaining the unique charm and
character that makes our town special. As we grow, we prioritize
sustainable development practices, green spaces, and preserving
our historical landmarks. These efforts not only enhance our
quality of life but also contribute to a strong sense of pride and
identity among our residents.
One of the most significant aspects of growth is the expansion of housing options. We
recognize the importance of ensuring that our community remains similar, but
accessible and affordable for all residents.
I also want to acknowledge the challenges that come with growth, particularly in terms
of infrastructure and services. We are actively planning and investing in essential
infrastructure upgrades, such as sidewalks, multi -use paths, roads, utilities, and public
amenities, to support our growing population and ensure everyone's well-being.
We will navigate the opportunities and challenges of growth together.
Together, we can continue to make our small town a wonderful place to live, work,
and thrive. We want to keep and improve the quality of life for all of us and our youth,
all that makes small-town living wonderful.
Warm Regards,
Mayor Dawson

Local Artist Mitchell Henderson recently commissioned
two pieces of art to add to the lobby of the town’s newest
facility, Burgaw Town Center. Stop in to see these
beautiful drawings showcasing the original Burgaw City
Hall/Fire Department and the former Pender County
Rescue Squad. We thank Mr. Henderson for his time and
effort put into these special pieces that will be displayed
for many years to come.
Big thanks to everyone who came out Saturday, April
13th for our Spring Clean Up Day! 102 pounds of trash
was picked up throughout town- this earned 4 trees to
be planted as part of the Trees4Trash campaign by the
Plastic Ocean Project. As always, we appreciate their
assistance with our clean up events.
